My name is Shane Hayes, I am the Deputy Head here at Crownbridge,

I have had an interest in working with people with Additional Learning Needs since starting my career, as a respite carer and swimming coach for young people and adults with special needs.  I volunteered working with young people with additional needs in sports development and special schools whilst going to university. My initial degree was in Sports Science, and Environmental Science before completing my PGCE in Primary Teaching at Caerleon.

I qualified as a Primary Teacher in 2003 and taught in a Primary School for 6 years before joining Crownbridge School as a class teacher. During my time at Crownbridge I have been a classroom teacher, Assistant Head and currently Deputy Head.

We pride ourselves in being a Pupil Centred School. Seeing pupils at our school grow into young confident adults is only part of our job here. Improving the quality of life for our pupils and families is a huge priority for our school, creating opportunities along the way, in a caring nurturing environment that allows our pupils to thrive.
